CBA NB President’s Message

  • October 22, 2021

As I begin my year as President of the Canadian Bar Association of New Brunswick, I want to extent warm regards and thanks to past President Lauren Cicin for all her hard work with the CBANB.  I feel I am extremely well surrounded on the Executive with Vice-President Talia Profit, and incoming Treasurer Maya Hamou.  I also wish to extend many thanks to Steven Christie for his continued involvement on the CBANB executive.  All I can say is that I am lucky to have such a supportive, hard-working and enthusiastic partners.

My priorities as President for the year are to focus on continuing to serve you, our valued members, while offering opportunities, online and in person (where possible)for continued learning development, networking, with a focus on mental health.  I also wish to continue to foster a positive relationship with our many stakeholders, including the Law Society, the Province of New Brunswick, the Bench, and many others.

Despite the challenges brought forth by the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBA NB continues to work tirelessly to organize and present professional development programs featuring some of the best speakers available in both official languages.  We are proud of our programming developed and presented to our members by our members.

We expect to have an engaging series of professional development programs to offer at our Mid-Winter Meeting, which we are still hoping can take place in person, in Moncton, from February 3-5, 2022 The organizing committee, chaired by Vice-President Talia Profit,  is well into the planning stage for this Mid-Winter, which we hope will continue to see record numbers of members come together for high quality continuing education and to take advantage of the opportunity to socialize with colleagues.

I encourage all members to contact me directly, anytime, with suggestions as to how the Canadian Bar Association can continue to serve and advocate strongly on behalf of our members in New Brunswick.

Isabel Lavoie Daigle
